Summer Book Club: Character, Chaos, and the Ethics of Survival in Jurassic Park

Flyers Summer Programming 2026 -
Flyers Summer Program 2026

This course engages students in a comprehensive literary analysis of Jurassic Park, exploring the thematic assertion that control is an illusion. Through the study of complex character development, students will evaluate how cognitive bias and unwillingness to adapt drive the novel’s tragic outcomes. The curriculum prioritizes literacy development and critical thinking by challenging students to synthesize the novel's scientific concepts with its moral frameworks. Ultimately, students will demonstrate their ability to deconstruct narrative arguments and apply ethical reasoning to textual evidence.
